Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting California University of Pennsylvania. Working in tandem, Cal U and NOVA Solutions created a truly modern classroom complete with technology integrated tables with Trolley E-Class units that are controlled by a network called The NOVALinked system.
Utilizing a Crestron Controller, the NOVALinked system provides the instructor with complete control of computer use throughout the room. The teacher can determine whether students can view their monitors by raising or lowering them underneath the work surface. The entire classroom of Trolley units can be activated simultaneously converting the room from a computer dependent class to a non-computer class in just a few seconds.
Additionally, "local" control of The Trolley units can be given to each student for individual work in the event some students need to view their computer screens and others do not.
This shining example of a truly modern, wired classroom is the result of many hours of good design, practical application, and the intelligent use of technology.
In the coming days, I'll post photos and eventually a video of the California University classroom. Keep watching for it. You'll be amazed.
