The latest direction in education is all about interaction. Placing students into a group setting for a free flowing exchange of ideas and information is becoming more critical as educational methods turn toward collaborative learning and move away from traditional classroom lectures.
With today's trend toward social media tools, such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, YouTube, etc., it makes sense that students are now more comfortable in a collaborative setting than ever before.
A new program initiated by North Carolina State University called Scale-Up (which stands for Student-Centered Active Learning Environment for Undergraduate Programs) is reinventing the classroom as we know it. Rather than sitting at traditional rows of desks, students work at round tables that are conducive to group learning.
Dr. Robin Wright, Professor at the University of Minnesota stated, "When the students first walk into this classroom, it sends the message right away that this is not business as usual." Students become part of a team and they become responsible for other team members right away.
NOVA provides a variety of collaborative learning solutions that also include technology integration! Download a gallery of our custom collaboration table designs.
